What Pushes a Carpentry Quote Up or Down
- Access. A rear deck you can back a ute up to costs less than one where every board is carried through the house.

- Written contract over $5,000. If the contract price is over $5,000 including GST, your builder or tradesperson must give you a written contract. This is not optional, and it exists to protect you.
- Home Building Compensation cover over $20,000. For residential building work over $20,000, the contractor must take out Home Building Compensation (HBC) cover and give you the certificate before asking for a deposit or any payment.
- Ask for the paperwork. We provide our licence and insurance details with your quote. If a contractor will not hand those over on request, that tells you something.
